Kaifu

Kaifu (开福区) is a district of Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, China. It is located in the northern part of the city’s urban area and forms part of its central districts.

Administratively, Kaifu District comprises multiple subdistricts and some townships. The district contains a mix of residential neighborhoods, commercial zones, schools, hospitals, and government offices, reflecting its role as a local administrative and service center.

History and name: The name Kaifu is derived from the Chinese characters 开 (open) and 福 (blessing), a combination commonly used in place names to convey auspicious connotations. The area developed with Changsha’s urban expansion in the late 20th century and has undergone administrative changes as the city reorganized its urban districts.

Economy and infrastructure: The district has a diversified economy centered on retail, services, and light industry, supported by educational institutions and public administration. It is connected to the wider Changsha transportation network by roads and bus services, enabling commuting to nearby districts and rural areas.
