KNMIkanalen

KNMIkanalen refers to the collection of channels through which the Koninklijk Nederlands Meteorologisch Instituut (KNMI) distributes weather, climate, and seismological information. The term describes the various platforms and systems KNMI uses to provide timely data and alerts to the public, professionals, and government authorities.

Core channels include the KNMI website and forecast pages, which publish current conditions, short- and long-range forecasts, and warnings. KNMI also operates mobile applications and automated notification services for weather alerts. In addition, KNMI coordinates with national warning systems such as NL-Alert to broadcast warnings to mobile devices during severe weather or other emergencies. Information is also disseminated through traditional media briefings and social media channels to reach a broad audience.

Data and products are distributed through KNMI’s data channels, including the KNMI Open Data portal, where weather observations, radar and satellite products, climate data, and forecast models are available for download or automated access.
