Käyttöjärjestelmälevy

Käyttöjärjestelmälevy, or operating system disk in English, refers to the storage device where the primary operating system of a computer is installed. This is typically a hard disk drive (HDD) or a solid-state drive (SSD). The operating system files, such as the kernel, system libraries, and essential applications, reside on this disk, allowing the computer to boot up and function. When a computer is powered on, the BIOS or UEFI firmware loads the bootloader from the käyttöjärjestelmälevy, which in turn initiates the loading of the operating system into the computer's memory.

The size and speed of the käyttöjärjestelmälevy can significantly impact the overall performance of a computer. Faster storage devices, like SSDs, offer quicker boot times, faster application loading, and improved responsiveness compared to traditional HDDs.
