Järnnitratföreningarna, commonly known as iron nitrates, are a group of chemical compounds containing iron and the nitrate anion (NO3-). The most common and stable forms are iron(III) nitrate and iron(II) nitrate. Iron(III) nitrate, with the formula Fe(NO3)3, is a pale violet crystalline solid that is highly soluble in water and alcohol. It is often encountered in its hydrated form, Fe(NO3)3·9H2O, which is known as ferric nitrate nonahydrate. Iron(II) nitrate, with the formula Fe(NO3)2, is a pale blue crystalline solid, also soluble in water, and is typically found in its hydrated form, Fe(NO3)2·6H2O.

Iron(III) nitrate is prepared by reacting iron or iron(III) oxide with nitric acid. It is used in various applications, including as a mordant in dyeing textiles, as a catalyst in organic synthesis, and in the production of other iron compounds. Its oxidizing properties are also utilized in certain chemical processes. Iron(II) nitrate can be prepared by reacting iron with dilute nitric acid, although care must be taken to avoid over-oxidation to the iron(III) state. It finds use in some laboratory reagents and as a source of iron in certain formulations. Both iron(II) and iron(III) nitrates are generally considered to be moderate oxidizing agents, and their solutions can be acidic due to hydrolysis.
