Jännitehäiriöiksi

Conversely, voltage surges, or overvoltages, are a temporary increase in voltage above the nominal level. Complete voltage interruptions occur when the voltage drops to zero for a short period. Harmonics are sinusoidal voltages or currents having frequencies that are integer multiples of the fundamental frequency.

These phenomena can be caused by a range of events. System faults, such as short circuits or line-to-ground faults, are common causes of voltage sags and interruptions. Switching operations, like the energization or de-energization of large loads or capacitor banks, can also lead to transient voltage disturbances. In industrial settings, the operation of non-linear loads, such as variable frequency drives and rectifiers, is a primary source of harmonic distortion. External factors like lightning strikes can also induce voltage surges.

The consequences of jännitehäiriöiksi can be significant. Sensitive electronic equipment, including computers, control systems, and medical devices, can malfunction or be damaged by voltage deviations. In industrial processes, voltage disturbances can lead to production downtime, equipment damage, and reduced product quality. The economic impact can be substantial due to lost production and repair costs. Mitigation strategies often involve installing voltage conditioners, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), surge protective devices, and filters to suppress harmonics. Proper power system design and maintenance are crucial in minimizing the occurrence and impact of these disturbances.
