Jyggalag

Jyggalag is a fictional character appearing in various media related to the Elder Scrolls video game franchise. He is primarily known as the Daedric Prince of Order, a powerful entity who embodies logic, structure, and predictability. Unlike other Daedric Princes who revel in chaos or destruction, Jyggalag is characterized by his unwavering pursuit of absolute order.

His history is deeply intertwined with the realm of the Shivering Isles, the domain of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness. It is revealed that Jyggalag was once cursed by the other Daedric Princes who feared his growing power and the potential for him to impose his order upon all of existence. This curse transformed him into Sheogorath, trapping him in a cycle of madness. For a long period, Jyggalag would periodically break free from this curse, only to be drawn back into the role of Sheogorath, resulting in the Greymarch, a destructive invasion of the Shivering Isles that would always end with his defeat and return to madness.

In the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, specifically in the Shivering Isles expansion, the player character plays a crucial role in breaking this curse. By defeating Jyggalag during the Greymarch and becoming the new Sheogorath, the player liberates Jyggalag from his eternal torment, allowing him to finally embrace his true form and depart to rule his own plane of Oblivion, dedicated to Order. His motives are not inherently evil, but his concept of order is extreme and would lead to the suppression of free will and individuality.
