Just-in-Time Lieferung, often abbreviated as JIT, is a production and inventory management strategy. The core principle of JIT is to receive goods only as they are needed in the production process. This minimizes inventory holding costs and reduces waste associated with excess stock. The goal is to have the right materials arrive at the right time, in the right quantities, and at the right place to meet production schedules.

This approach requires a highly coordinated and reliable supply chain. Suppliers must be able to deliver materials precisely when requested, and production schedules must be carefully managed to avoid disruptions. JIT can lead to significant cost savings through reduced warehousing, less obsolescence, and improved cash flow. However, it also increases the risk of production stoppages if there are unexpected delays in deliveries or unforeseen increases in demand. Implementing JIT effectively often involves close collaboration and information sharing between manufacturers and their suppliers. It is a key component of Lean Manufacturing principles, aiming for efficiency and waste reduction throughout the entire value chain.
