Jularic

Jularic is a constructed language developed for the fictional world of Eldoria by a linguist and writer known in-world as A. Renner. It is described as the native tongue of the Jular people and features in several in-world texts and dialogues.

Created in 2010 as part of a broader worldbuilding project, Jularic is designed as an agglutinative language with a subject–object–verb word order. It incorporates influences from various real-world languages but remains distinct in its morphology and syntax.

Jularic has a five-vowel system and a consonant inventory including p, t, k, m, n, l, r, s, h, and v. The Latin alphabet with diacritics is used in most texts, while a ceremonial native script appears in decorative inscriptions.

Nouns mark number and case, with a definite/indefinite distinction expressed through suffixes and articles. Verbs show tense and aspect via affixes; adjectives follow nouns. The canonical sentence order is SOV, with postpositions rather than prepositions.

In Eldoria’s fiction, Jularic serves as the literary language of education and high culture, spoken by communities in the southern regions and studied by learners of the world. A standardized form exists in scholarly and fan communities.
