Jahutuskeeris

Jahutuskeeris is a heat exchanger component used in cooling and refrigeration systems. It consists of a tube or pipe wound into a spiral or helical coil, through which a coolant or refrigerant flows. The surrounding medium—air in air-cooled designs or another fluid in water- or oil-cooled systems—removes heat from the liquid inside the coil, increasing the rate of heat transfer due to the extended surface area and the potential for turbulent flow.

Construction and materials vary. Coil designs can be single-pass or multi-pass, and may be tightly wound or more open to suit space, pressure, and heat-load requirements. Common materials include copper for high thermal conductivity, stainless steel for corrosion resistance, and nickel alloys for high-temperature or aggressive fluids. Finning or external enhancements are sometimes added to boost surface area and heat transfer.

Operation and performance depend on flow rate, temperature difference, and coil geometry. A larger surface area and optimized flow paths improve heat transfer but may increase pressure drop. Finning increases surface area but adds cost and complexity. Spiral coils are favored when a compact footprint is required and efficient heat exchange is needed within limited space.

Applications are diverse, including condensers and evaporators in refrigeration systems, process cooling in chemical plants, oil coolers, and laboratory or medical equipment. They are also found in some solar thermal and geothermal setups where compact, efficient heat exchange is needed.

Maintenance involves inspecting for corrosion or fouling, leak testing, and periodic cleaning. Material selection should reflect the working fluids and duty cycle, and designs should comply with relevant standards and safety codes for the intended application.
