JPYlläs

JPYlläs is a geographical feature located in Finnish Lapland, Europe. It is a fell, a type of hill or mountain, within the administrative area of Karesuando municipality. The fell is situated in the region's northernmost point, near the Norway-Finland border.

JPYlläs offers scenic views of the surrounding wilderness, with a summit height of approximately 505 meters above sea level. The fell is typically covered in a layer of snow and ice for a significant portion of the year, making it a notable destination for winter sports enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

In addition to its natural attractions, JPYlläs has historical and cultural significance in the region. The area is home to numerous indigenous Sami people who have relied on the wilderness for their livelihood for centuries. Today, the fell remains an important area for Sámi culture and traditions, with many residents continuing to maintain their cultural heritage.

JPYlläs is also recognized for its singular astronomical phenomenon. Due to its remote location and exceptional darkness levels, the fell is renowned for being one of the best places in the world to observe the aurora borealis, also known as the Northern Lights. Visitors can witness this celestial spectacle during the winter months, typically between September and late March.
