Istres

Istres is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southern France. It lies on the northern shore of the Étang de Berre, about 60 kilometers west of Marseille, and is part of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis. The commune has a population of roughly 40,000 inhabitants.
