Israeli American refers to a person who is Israeli-born or of Israeli descent living in the United States, as well as to the broader transnational culture that connects Israeli and American identities. The term also encompasses Americans with substantial ties to Israel through family, language, or frequent travel.

Demographics and distribution vary because U.S. data collection does not routinely separate Israeli ancestry. Estimates place the number of Israeli-born Americans at roughly 120,000–150,000, with many more Americans who have Israeli heritage or connections. Israeli Americans are concentrated in major urban areas, including the New York metropolitan area, greater Los Angeles, South Florida (notably the Miami and Boca Raton regions), Chicago, Boston, Seattle, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Common languages include English and Hebrew, and familiarity with Israeli media and institutions is common within communities.

History and migration patterns have been shaped by professional, academic, and family considerations, as well as reciprocal ties between the United States and Israel. Since the mid-20th century, Israelis have moved to the United States for higher education, business opportunities, and research collaborations. The community includes professionals in technology, science, education, government, arts, and entrepreneurship, as well as students and diplomats.

Culture and organized life: a prominent umbrella organization, the Israeli American Council, and numerous synagogues, cultural centers, and professional associations help maintain cultural ties and civic involvement. Israeli Americans often engage in philanthropy and advocacy related to U.S.–Israel relations, while balancing integration into American civic life and continued connections to Israeli society, language, and customs.

Religion and identity: the majority identify as Jewish; there are also Israeli Arab communities and individuals of other faiths or secular backgrounds who maintain ties to Israel. The Israeli American experience reflects a spectrum of identities, ranging from strong dual loyalties to broader diaspora connections.
