Isotopisms

Isotopisms refer to the phenomenon where two or more chemical elements exhibit similar chemical properties due to their isotopes having nearly identical atomic masses. This concept is crucial in understanding the behavior of elements in chemical reactions and the formation of compounds. Isotopes of an element have the same number of protons but differ in the number of neutrons, resulting in variations in atomic mass. Despite these mass differences, isotopes can often be substituted for one another in chemical processes without significantly altering the reaction outcomes. This is because the chemical properties of an element are primarily determined by its electron configuration, which is consistent across isotopes.
