Ishwardi

Ishwardi is a municipality and a major commercial area in Pabna District of Rajshahi Division, Bangladesh. It is located on the banks of the Padma River. The area is known for its agricultural production, particularly jute and sugarcane. Historically, Ishwardi played a significant role as a railway junction during the British colonial era, connecting various parts of the region. This railway heritage continues to be a prominent feature of the town.

The Ishwardi Export Processing Zone (IEPZ) is a notable industrial development in the area, attracting foreign investment and contributing to the local economy. The Hardinge Bridge, a historic railway bridge spanning the Padma River near Ishwardi, is a significant landmark. The town also boasts the Pakshi Paper Mills, one of the oldest paper mills in Bangladesh. Ishwardi is served by a railway station which remains an important transit point. The local administration is managed by the Ishwardi Upazila, and it falls under the Pabna-4 parliamentary constituency. The climate is generally tropical with distinct wet and dry seasons.
