Isabey
Isabey is a surname of French origin, most notably associated with the painter Jean-Baptiste Isabey. Born in Nancy in 1767, Jean-Baptiste Isabey was a prominent miniaturist and portrait painter. He rose to prominence in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, serving as a court painter to Napoleon Bonaparte and later to King Louis XVIII. His exquisite miniature portraits, often depicting royalty and aristocracy, are highly prized for their detail and artistry. He was also known for his larger-scale historical paintings. Isabey's work is characterized by its delicate brushwork, vibrant colors, and keen observation of human likeness. He passed away in Paris in 1855.
