Ionisäteilyä

Ionisäteilyä is the Finnish term for ionizing radiation. Ionizing radiation is a type of energy released by atoms that travels in electromagnetic waves or as particles. It has enough energy to remove electrons from atoms and molecules, a process called ionization. This ionization can damage living cells and DNA, which is why exposure to high levels of ionizing radiation is harmful.

There are several sources of ionizing radiation. It is also used in industry for sterilization, food irradiation, and material testing. Strict safety regulations and protective measures are in place to minimize exposure to ionizing radiation in both occupational and public settings. Understanding the properties and risks of ionizing radiation is essential for its safe use and management.
