Intressitüübid

Intressitüübid refers to the different ways interest can be calculated or applied in financial contexts. The most fundamental distinction is between simple interest and compound interest.

Simple interest is calculated only on the principal amount of a loan or deposit. The interest earned or paid remains constant over time. For example, if you have a principal of 1000 with a simple annual interest rate of 5%, you would earn 50 each year.

Compound interest, on the other hand, is calculated on the principal amount plus any accumulated interest from previous periods. This means that interest earns interest, leading to exponential growth over time. Using the same example, with compound interest, the first year's interest would be 50. In the second year, the interest would be calculated on 1050, resulting in 52.5.

Beyond this primary distinction, other types of interest exist, such as fixed interest, where the rate remains the same for the entire term of the loan or investment, and variable interest, where the rate can fluctuate based on market conditions or a benchmark index. An overdraft interest refers to the charges applied when an account balance goes below zero. Some loans might also feature grace period interest, which is interest that accrues during a specified period after a loan is disbursed but before regular payments are due. Understanding these different intressitüübid is crucial for making informed financial decisions.
