Intraabdominelle

Intraabdominelle is an adjective used in medical language to describe anatomical, physiological, or pathological features situated within the abdominal cavity. The abdominal cavity is bordered superiorly by the diaphragms and inferiorly by the pelvic inlet, and it contains most of the digestive organs, the liver, spleen, portions of the pancreas and intestines, as well as related structures. The peritoneal cavity within the abdomen is a potential space lined by the peritoneum, hosting many intraperitoneal organs; some organs lie behind the peritoneum (retroperitoneal) and are not part of the peritoneal space, though they reside within the abdominal area.

The term is used to denote conditions, investigations, or procedures that involve structures inside the abdomen. Common intraabdominelle conditions include intraabdominal infections such as peritonitis and intraabdominal abscess, inflammatory diseases like diverticulitis and pancreatitis, traumatic injuries, perforated viscus, bowel obstruction, and tumors. Clinical concerns revolve around abdominal pain, tenderness, fever, and signs of sepsis or organ dysfunction. Intraabdominal pressure and its measurement have clinical relevance in certain critical care settings; elevated pressure can lead to intraabdominal hypertension or abdominal compartment syndrome, requiring timely intervention.

Diagnosis typically relies on history and physical examination, laboratory tests, and imaging such as ultrasound or computed tomography to identify pathology and guide management. Treatment is condition-specific and may range from antimicrobial therapy and supportive care to urgent surgical exploration, drainage of collections, or decompression in cases of bowel ischemia or abdominal compartment syndrome. The term is more commonly rendered in English as intraabdominal, while intraabdominelle appears in some non-English medical languages.
