Interpres

Interpres is a Latin noun meaning “an interpreter” or “mediator.” In classical and medieval Latin, an interpres was a person who translated or conveyed messages between languages or between parties in negotiation or diplomacy. The term could also refer to a spokesperson or translator who explained terms, interpreted texts, or mediated disputes in manuscripts and official communications.
