Instroomt

Instroomt is a Dutch verb form that appears, in most standard contexts, as a nonstandard or dialectal variant. It is commonly described as the third-person singular present tense of the verb instromen or instroomen, meaning to enter, to flow in, or to join a group or system. In formal Dutch, however, the standard present tense is usually formed as stromen in, so the preferred construction would be hij stroomt in rather than hij instroomt. Because instroomt is not the standard, it is infrequently used in contemporary formal writing and may be encountered mainly in regional speech or older texts.

The noun instroom, related to instroomt, denotes an influx or intake—such as the influx of students, workers, or immigrants into a location or institution.
