Instalate

Instalate is a verb form that appears in a limited set of English-language sources as an alternative spelling of the modern verb install, or as part of non-English orthographies that convey a similar meaning. It is not widely recognized as standard English today.

In contemporary English, the preferred form is install. The past tense is installed, the present participle installing, and the noun installation. When instalate appears, it is generally considered archaic, regional, or incorrect in technical writing, and should be replaced with install or installation depending on the sentence.

The spelling and morphophonemic shape reflect the same Latin-based heritage as install, with roots in the verb meaning to place or set up. The exact historical usage of instalate varies by dialect and period; in most modern reference works it is not listed as a standard form.
