Inniskillin

Inniskillin Wines is a Canadian winery and wine brand located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. It was founded in 1975 by Donald Ziraldo and Karl Kaiser as part of the early development of the Ontario wine industry. Inniskillin is best known for pioneering the commercial production of ice wine in Canada.

In 1984, Inniskillin produced the first widely marketed ice wine using Vidal grapes, a milestone that helped establish ice wine as a distinct global category and raised the international profile of Ontario wines. The winery expanded its portfolio to include other Ontario-grown wines and emphasized both ice wines and table wines.

Ownership and corporate history: Inniskillin became part of Vincor International, a Canadian wine company, and when Vincor was acquired by Constellation Brands in 2006, Inniskillin became part of a wider international portfolio.

Products: The brand is especially associated with Vidal Icewine and Cabernet Franc Icewine, but also produces a range of dry and semi-dry wines from Ontario-grown grape varieties such as Riesling and Chardonnay.

Tourism: The Niagara-on-the-Lake estate features a visitor centre offering tours and tastings, contributing to wine tourism in the region.
