Inferiora
Inferiora is a taxonomic genus of beetles belonging to the family Carabidae, commonly referred to as ground beetles. The genus was first described in 1902 by entomologist Heinrich von Schaum, based on specimens collected in the lower altitudes of the Central Asian steppes. Species within Inferiora are characterized by their elongated bodies, well‑developed mandibles, and a distinctive metallic sheen ranging from bronze to greenish‑blue. Most members are nocturnal predators, feeding on small arthropods and larvae found in soil litter.
The genus comprises approximately twelve recognized species, with Inferiora lapponica and Inferiora tibetana being the most
Ecologically, Inferiora beetles play a role in regulating soil‑dwelling invertebrate communities and contribute to nutrient cycling
