Inertiallinen

Inertiallinen is a Finnish adjective meaning related to inertia or inertia-related concepts. It is used to describe phenomena, frames of reference, or properties governed by inertia. In standard Finnish, the common term for this idea is inertiaalinen; however, inertiallinen appears in some technical or older texts and in certain stylistic contexts as a variant.

In physics, a key notion is the inertial frame of reference: a frame in which a body not under external forces moves with constant velocity. Newton's laws hold with their simple form in inertial frames; non-inertial frames require fictitious forces to account for observed accelerations.
