Inertiaalikehyksessä

Inertiaalikehyksessä is a Finnish term that translates to "in an inertial frame of reference" in English. This concept is fundamental in physics, particularly in classical mechanics, and it describes a coordinate system where Newton's laws of motion hold true. In such a frame, an object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will continue in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an external force.

Inertial frames are crucial for understanding concepts like acceleration, force, and momentum. For instance, the law of inertia, which is Newton's first law of motion, is specifically defined within an inertial frame. If an object is accelerating, it implies that the frame of reference is not inertial, meaning it is itself accelerating or rotating.

In contrast, a non-inertial frame of reference is one that is accelerating. In these frames, fictitious forces, such as the Coriolis force or the centrifugal force, appear to act on objects. These fictitious forces are not due to actual physical interactions but arise from the acceleration of the observer's frame.
