Indigenousrights
Indigenous rights are the civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights claimed by Indigenous peoples, defined by their distinct cultures, identities, and relationships to land and resources. They include the right to self-determination, autonomy or governance within or independent of states, and participation in decisions affecting their communities. Rights are both individual and collective: individuals have rights to culture, language, health, and education; communities have rights to land, resources, and cultural heritage.
International law recognizes Indigenous rights through instruments such as the United Nations Declaration on the Rights
Land and resource rights are central, as many Indigenous communities link cultural survival to traditional territories.
