Impulssimaisiin

Impulssimaisiin is an association football technique developed by a Finnish football coach. The name itself is Finnish, with "impulssit" meaning impulses and "maisema" meaning landscape or spatial arrangement, with the suffix "-isimaisiin" pointing towards an existing concept or comparison.

The technique revolves around creating passages for the ball to travel through, likening them to certain geographical features like plains, plateaus, or ridges. This is meant to create space on the field and to control the tempo of the game.

The concept is largely based on possession football, where the team maintains control of the ball by constantly moving it forward in a way that is unpredictable for the opponent. The idea is to create uncertainty in the minds of the opposing team's players, making it challenging for them to anticipate the next action.
