Impulsprøvninger

Impulsprøvninger, often translated as impulse testing or transient testing, are a type of diagnostic test used primarily in the electrical power industry to assess the integrity of insulation systems, particularly in high-voltage equipment such as transformers and generators. The core principle involves applying a short, high-voltage electrical impulse to the equipment and observing the resulting electrical response.

This response is captured by specialized measurement equipment. By analyzing the waveform of the measured signal, such as the shape, amplitude, and timing of the oscillations, engineers can identify potential defects within the insulation. These defects might include loose windings, partial discharges, poor connections, or damage to the insulation material. The impulse test is effective because it can reveal subtle imperfections that might not be apparent during routine operational conditions.

The results of an impulsprøvning provide valuable information for predictive maintenance. Deviations from a baseline signature, typically obtained from factory acceptance tests or from a healthy unit of the same type, indicate a deterioration of the insulation. This allows for proactive measures to be taken, such as repairs or replacement, before a catastrophic failure occurs, thereby improving the reliability and safety of the power system.
