Impedanssikokeet, known in English as impedance spectroscopy or electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), are a powerful electrochemical technique used to study the behavior of electrochemical systems over a range of frequencies. The core principle involves applying a small amplitude sinusoidal voltage or current to an electrochemical cell and measuring the resulting current or voltage response, respectively. By analyzing the impedance, which is the frequency-dependent opposition to the flow of alternating current, researchers can gain insights into various electrochemical processes occurring within the system.

The impedance is typically represented as a complex number, comprising both a real part (resistance) and an imaginary part (reactance).
