Ilmahöyryseos, often translated as air-steam mixture, refers to a combination of atmospheric air and water vapor. This is a common thermodynamic system encountered in various natural and industrial processes. The composition of an air-steam mixture is primarily determined by the partial pressures of its constituent gases, namely dry air and water vapor.

The amount of water vapor that air can hold is dependent on temperature; warmer air can contain significantly more moisture than cooler air. When air is cooled to its dew point, the water vapor begins to condense, forming liquid water. This phenomenon is observable as fog, clouds, or dew.

In industrial applications, air-steam mixtures are relevant in fields like power generation, where steam is used to drive turbines, and in chemical processes. Understanding the properties of these mixtures, such as their enthalpy and specific volume, is crucial for efficient system design and operation.
