Ilmaaseilla is a Finnish geographical term that refers to regions that are located in high altitudes above the tree line. The name is derived from the Finnish words "ilma" meaning air and "aseilla" meaning above, indicating areas where the air is thinner and the vegetation is sparse. These areas are typically characterized by rocky terrain, low vegetation, and a short growing season.

Ilmaaseilla regions are usually found above the treeline, typically above 500-600 meters in elevation, where the climate is harsh and the soil is poor in nutrients. The vegetation in these areas is adapted to the harsh conditions and includes species such as low-growing shrubs, grasses, and mosses. The fauna in these regions is also adapted to the conditions and includes species such as reindeer, arctic foxes, and other small mammals.
