Common ratings include K-7 (suitable for ages 7 and up), K-12 (suitable for ages 12 and up), K-16 (suitable for ages 16 and up), and K-18 (restricted to adults aged 18 and up). Some content may also be labeled as "ei ikärajaa" (no age limit) or "sallittu kaikille" (allowed for everyone).

In addition to age restrictions, some media may receive content descriptors that further explain the reasons for the rating, such as violence, sexual content, or frightening scenes. These descriptors help parents and guardians make informed decisions about what their children consume.
