Idästä
Idästä is a nonstandard spelling of the Finnish elative form itästä, which means “from the east.” In standard Finnish, the noun itä meaning “east” takes the elative suffix -stä, giving itästä to express origin or movement away from the east. The variant idästä typically appears only when diacritics are omitted (for example in plain ASCII text) or as a typographical error; it is not recognized as a separate word in modern Finnish dictionaries.
Usage in Finnish follows the same grammatical role as itästä. It denotes provenance or direction from the
Orthography and conventions: Finnish orthography distinguishes ä from a, and diacritics are important for correct meaning.
