Iceman

Iceman is a nickname or title used for various people, fictional characters, and cultural references associated with ice or a cold demeanor. The term does not denote a single entity and is used across disciplines, including science, crime reporting, and popular culture.

Ötzi, the Iceman, commonly refers to the preserved natural mummy discovered in 1991 in the Ötztal Alps on the Austrian–Italian border. Dated to around 3300 BCE, Ötzi is one of the oldest known mummies. His well-preserved body, clothing, and tools have provided insight into Copper Age technology, diet, health, and alpine travel.

Richard Kuklinski, an American criminal, was nicknamed "The Iceman" for his cold-blooded demeanor and involvement in organized crime. He claimed to have murdered dozens of people; he was convicted of multiple murders in the 1980s and died in 2006. His life has been the subject of documentaries and the 2012 film The Iceman.

In popular culture, Iceman refers to Bobby Drake, a fictional character in Marvel Comics. A founding member of the X-Men, Drake has the ability to generate and manipulate ice and cryokinetic energy. Drake first appeared in The X-Men #1 (1963), created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and remains a long-running member of the franchise.

The Iceman is also the title of a 2012 biographical crime drama film about Kuklinski, directed by Ariel Vromen and starring Michael Shannon, which portrays aspects of his criminal career and personal life.
