IceMake
IceMake is a software application designed to create and manage ice charts, which are graphical representations of sea ice conditions. Developed by the National Ice Center (NIC), a branch of the United States Navy, IceMake is used by various organizations, including the U.S. Coast Guard, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the U.S. Navy, to support maritime operations in polar regions. The software allows users to input data on ice concentration, thickness, and stage of development, and then generates detailed ice charts that can be used for navigation, search and rescue operations, and environmental monitoring. IceMake supports multiple data sources, including satellite imagery, aerial reconnaissance, and ground observations, ensuring that the ice charts are as accurate and up-to-date as possible. The application is known for its user-friendly interface and robust functionality, making it an essential tool for those working in the Arctic and Antarctic regions.
