IUCLID

IUCLID, or International Uniform Chemical Information Database, is a software application designed to store, manage, and exchange information on chemical substances to support regulatory compliance. It is developed and maintained by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and is widely used by industry and authorities to prepare data submissions for EU chemical regulations.

The program is primarily used to collect and organize data required under REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) and CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging). It enables users to compile substance identity, physicochemical properties, environmental fate and ecotoxicology, toxicology, uses, exposure information, and hazard data. IUCLID also supports the preparation of Chemical Safety Reports (CSRs) and other registration dossiers, and it facilitates data exchange with ECHA’s submission systems.

IUCLID supports collaboration and data exchange among registrants, consortia, and authorities. It allows the creation of structured dossiers that can be submitted to REACH-IT and is used to generate standardized sections of regulatory documents, ensuring consistency across submissions. The software stores both substance-level data and specific hazard and risk information used in risk assessments.

Version history includes IUCLID 5, an earlier generation, and IUCLID 6, the current platform designed to meet modern REACH and CLP information needs. The application is cross-platform, running as a desktop program on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and is distributed free of charge to registrants and other authorized users.
