ISO Standardization is the process of developing and publishing technical standards by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The organization was founded in 1947 in Geneva, Switzerland, and its primary goal is to facilitate global trade and commerce by establishing common standards for products, services, and systems.

The process of standardization at ISO typically begins with the submission of a proposal by a member organization or a committee. The proposal outlines the need for a standard and suggests its scope. The ISO Council then reviews the proposal and decides whether to take it forward. If approved, the proposal is referred to the relevant technical committee, which assembles experts from its member countries to work on the standard.

The ISO standardization process involves several stages, including:

* Publication proposal

* Review and approval by the ISO Council

* Work by the technical committee to develop the standard

* Publication of the final standard

ISO standards address a wide range of topics, including information security, quality management, and even sustainable development. Adoption of these standards is voluntary, and entities use them to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements or to meet the quality requirements of their customers.

When a country adopts a standard, it agrees to recognize the certification of products or services that comply with the standard. Certification bodies conducting audits to prove the conformity of products or services with the standard are accredited in that country under specific accreditation rules, which often involves demonstrating their independence and impartiality, their competency in the technique, and their adequate resources for carrying out audits.

ISO has published more than 25,000 standards since 1947, including ISO 27001 for information security management, ISO 9001 for quality management, and ISO 14001 for environmental management.
