ISCEDjärjestelmässä

ISCEDjärjestelmässä refers to the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) system. This is a framework developed by UNESCO to classify education programs and qualifications by level and field. The ISCED system provides a common language and a standardized methodology for comparing education statistics internationally. Its primary purpose is to collect, compile, and analyze education statistics at national and international levels, enabling countries to understand their own education systems better and to compare them with those of other nations.

The ISCED system categorizes education into different levels, starting from pre-primary education and progressing through primary, lower secondary, upper secondary, post-secondary non-tertiary, short-cycle tertiary, bachelor's or equivalent, master's or equivalent, and doctoral or equivalent levels. It also classifies programs by fields of education and training, such as education, arts and humanities, social sciences, journalism and information, business, administration and law, natural sciences, mathematics and statistics, information and communication technologies, engineering, manufacturing and construction, agriculture, forestry, fisheries and veterinary, health and welfare.

The ISCED system is periodically revised to reflect changes in education systems worldwide. The latest version, ISCED 2011, introduced refinements to the classification of tertiary education and strengthened the linkages between ISCED and the occupational classification of the International Labour Organization (ILO). By providing a standardized approach, ISCED facilitates international cooperation in education and helps in formulating evidence-based education policies.
