IRlähettimet

IRlähettimet, also known as infrared transmitters, are electronic devices that emit infrared light. This light is invisible to the human eye and falls within the electromagnetic spectrum between visible light and microwaves. IRlähettimet are commonly used for short-range wireless communication. They work by converting an electrical signal into modulated infrared light pulses. These pulses are then detected by a corresponding IR receiver, which converts them back into an electrical signal.

The most prevalent application of IRlähettimet is in remote controls for consumer electronics such as televisions, stereos, and air conditioners. In these devices, the buttons pressed on the remote generate specific binary codes that are transmitted as infrared pulses. The IR receiver on the electronic device decodes these pulses and executes the corresponding command. Another application is in optical data transmission, such as in older infrared ports on laptops and mobile phones for file transfer. They are also used in some security systems and industrial automation for proximity sensing or object detection. The effectiveness of IRlähettimet can be affected by obstructions in the line of sight between the transmitter and receiver, as well as strong ambient light sources that can interfere with the signal.
