IP54

IP54 is a designation in the Ingress Protection (IP) code defined by IEC 60529. It describes the level of protection provided by an enclosure against dust and water.

The two digits in IP54 indicate specific protections. The first digit, 5, means the enclosure is dust-protected:

In practical terms, devices with an IP54 rating are suitable for environments where dust is present and

IP54 should be contrasted with higher protection levels such as IP55 (water jets from any direction), IP66
