INItiedostot

INItiedostot, often referred to as INI files, are simple configuration files used by many applications and operating systems to store settings. The name "INI" comes from the file extension `.ini` that these files commonly use.

These files are characterized by their human-readable format. They are organized into sections, each denoted by a name enclosed in square brackets, like `[SectionName]`. Within each section, key-value pairs define specific parameters and their corresponding values. A key is followed by an equals sign, and then its value, such as `KeyName=Value`. Comments can typically be included using a semicolon or hash symbol at the beginning of a line, allowing users to add explanations or temporarily disable settings.

The structure of INI files makes them easy to edit with any standard text editor. This simplicity has led to their widespread adoption for storing application configurations, user preferences, and system settings. For example, older versions of Windows extensively used INI files for system-wide configurations. While more complex configuration formats have emerged, INI files remain relevant for many applications due to their straightforward nature and ease of parsing. Their lack of complex syntax also makes them less prone to errors during manual editing.
