INCOTERMSsääntöjen

INCOTERMSsääntöjen, which translates to INCOTERMS Rules, are a set of pre-defined commercial terms published by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) that are widely used in international and domestic trade contracts. They clarify the tasks, costs, and risks associated with the transportation and delivery of goods from sellers to buyers. INCOTERMSsääntöjen define who is responsible for each stage of the delivery process, including transport, insurance, customs clearance, and duties.

The primary purpose of INCOTERMSsääntöjen is to minimize misunderstandings and disputes between parties involved in international trade. By using a standardized set of rules, both buyer and seller have a clear understanding of their obligations and responsibilities, reducing the risk of costly errors and delays. These rules are not laws but rather contractual terms that parties can choose to incorporate into their sales agreements.

There are currently eleven INCOTERMS rules, categorized into four groups. These rules apply to different modes of transport, from sea and inland waterways to any mode or multiple modes. For example, EXW (Ex Works) places the minimum obligation on the seller, while DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) places the maximum obligation on the seller. Understanding which INCOTERMS rule is appropriate for a specific transaction is crucial for ensuring a smooth and efficient trade process.
