IIIFstandardeja
IIIFstandardeja refers to the Finnish term for IIIF standards. IIIF, or the International Image Interoperability Framework, is a set of open standards for delivering high-quality digitized images and related content on the web. These standards enable interoperability, allowing users and systems to access and display digital assets from different institutions in a consistent manner. The core of IIIF is the Presentation API, which describes how digital resources like manuscripts, maps, and artworks are structured and presented, and the Image API, which defines how to request and manipulate image tiles. By adhering to these standards, institutions can make their collections more discoverable and usable for researchers, educators, and the general public. The adoption of IIIF standards facilitates the creation of rich digital experiences, allowing for deep zooming, side-by-side comparisons of different versions of an item, and embedding content across various platforms without the need for proprietary viewers. This collaborative approach fosters a more connected and accessible digital humanities landscape.
