The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the global governing body for cricket. Founded in 1909 as the Imperial Cricket Conference, it was renamed the International Cricket Conference in 1965 and finally the International Cricket Council in 1987. The ICC is responsible for the development and administration of cricket worldwide, setting the rules of the game, and organizing major international tournaments, most notably the Cricket World Cup, the ICC T20 World Cup, and the ICC Champions Trophy.
