ICBP
ICBP refers to the International Council for Bird Preservation, an organization dedicated to the conservation of birds and their habitats worldwide. Founded in 1922, it was one of the first international organizations focused on wildlife conservation. The ICBP's primary goal was to foster cooperation among nations and individuals to protect bird species from threats such as habitat loss, pollution, and unsustainable hunting. It achieved this by supporting research, promoting conservation projects, and advocating for policies that safeguard birds. Over its existence, the ICBP played a significant role in raising awareness about the importance of bird conservation and influencing international environmental agreements. In 1996, the organization rebranded itself as BirdLife International, continuing its mission under a new name and with an expanded focus on broader biodiversity conservation. The legacy of the ICBP is evident in the ongoing work of BirdLife International and the many bird species and ecosystems that have benefited from its conservation efforts.
