IBC stands for Intermediate Bulk Container. IBC containers are reusable industrial containers designed for the transport and storage of bulk products. They are commonly used in industries such as chemicals, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.

IBC containers typically consist of a plastic inner receptacle, often made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), enclosed within a protective outer cage made of galvanized steel. This cage provides structural integrity and allows for secure stacking. Most IBCs also feature a pallet base, usually made of plastic, wood, or metal, which facilitates handling with forklifts or pallet jacks.

These containers are designed for efficiency and safety. They are equipped with a filling opening at the top for easy access and a discharge valve at the bottom for controlled emptying. This valve design prevents spills and allows for precise dispensing of the contents. The standard capacity for an IBC is usually around 1000 liters, though other sizes exist.

IBCs offer several advantages over traditional drums or smaller containers. Their cubic shape maximizes storage and transport space, fitting more product into the same area. Their robust construction ensures durability and reusability, contributing to cost savings and environmental sustainability.
