Häcksler

Häcksler is a German term for a machine that reduces organic waste, especially branches and wood debris, into smaller pieces such as wood chips or mulch. They are commonly used by homeowners, gardening services, parks departments and forestry operators to manage green waste and to create material for mulch or compost.

Most Häcksler are powered by electric motors or internal combustion engines and feed material through a hopper into a rotating cutting assembly. The cutting action is performed by blades or knives mounted on a drum, disc or hammer mechanism. Output chips are discharged through a chute, often adjustable for chip size and direction.
