Háromszögeknek, often translated as "triangles" in English, refers to the geometric shapes composed of three straight sides and three vertices. These fundamental figures are a cornerstone of Euclidean geometry and appear in countless applications across mathematics, physics, engineering, and art. The sum of the interior angles of any triangle is always 180 degrees.

Triangles can be classified in several ways. Based on their side lengths, they are categorized as equilateral (all sides equal), isosceles (two sides equal), and scalene (no sides equal). Based on their angle measures, they are classified as acute (all angles less than 90 degrees), obtuse (one angle greater than 90 degrees), and right (one angle exactly 90 degrees). A right triangle is particularly important due to the Pythagorean theorem, which states that the square of the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

The area of a triangle can be calculated using various formulas, the most common being one-half times the base times the height. Triangles are fundamental building blocks; for instance, any polygon can be triangulated, meaning it can be divided into a set of non-overlapping triangles. This property makes them essential for computational geometry and computer graphics. Their study encompasses concepts like similarity, congruence, and trigonometry, providing powerful tools for measurement and analysis in the real world.
