Humidifiers require maintenance, as they can become breeding grounds for bacteria and mold if not properly cleaned. Regular cleaning and replacement of filters and humidifier components help to ensure the appliance functions correctly and maintains a certain airflow.

However, improper use of humidifiers can lead to issues such as over-humidification, water damage, and structural damage to buildings.
