Hulladékkeretirányelve

Hulladékkeretirányelve is the Hungarian term for the Waste Framework Directive. This is a key piece of European Union legislation that sets the foundation for waste management policies and practices across member states. Its primary objective is to protect the environment and human health by preventing or reducing the adverse impacts of waste generation and management.

The directive establishes a waste hierarchy, which prioritizes waste prevention, followed by reuse, recycling, other recovery (such as energy recovery), and finally, disposal as a last resort. This hierarchy guides legislative and policy decisions at both the EU and national levels. Member states are required to implement measures to encourage the application of this hierarchy.

Key provisions of the Waste Framework Directive include definitions for waste, recycling, and recovery, as well as requirements for the separate collection of waste.
